Definitely a "specimen only" piece!! That's because you didn't see the other side - covered in circles.

Omg - I am going to try that! I wonder if acetone will eat those up.

Omg - I am going to try that! I wonder if acetone will eat those up. If I recall correctly, those pads are basically glass foam. They work well cleaning because you are basically sanding down any surface you clean with it. If it is only glass foam, acetone shouldn't hurt it but I don't know if there are other materials in it. You could probably look on line and get the exact composition. I did find out earlier today that acetone will for the most park, take pencil marks off of slabs.

OOOH! that's a fantastic idea cabby. Putting together some kind of stained glass window out of this type of material...wow! I've been meaning to ask you - do you have any pictures of the in-laws backsplash? You've mentioned them making something, just been curious to see it.

By window I meant cut a small section off a rock to expose a fresh face so I can see more detail 😆 but I do have plans to cut rocks into small “tiles” to make mosaics. backsplash project hasn’t started yet, but it’s my job to cut the material when they are ready for it. They do have a couple countertops with slices embedded in epoxy. Will ask for some pics tomorrow! Don’t even know what phone I owned back then, so easier to ask them to send me some shots.

well, sh*t. Here I though cabby was all kinds of creative making windows out of agates like some sort of lapidary michaelangelo, turns out once again I'm one slice short of a sandwich.
I think I need to stick to my corner. (rock identification help)
Back to your corner charity!

My plans along those lines is the mosaic tiles and want to try making some small candle holders or lamp shades out of thin agate slices, which basically is stained glass. But not making windows out of them! i am planning to make the “stained glass” type panels by sliding thin slices into channels in wood, kinda like floating panel doors, then attach multiple sections together to make the shades or holders. Not good at explaining and can’t draw to save my life!

You did good at explaining cabby. make a channel, slide it in. Piece the completed panels together. Brilliant. That is a fantastic idea - the light shining through them would be so beautiful! jasoninsd - I might stay in the kiddie pool here- I mean cmon it's shark week.
