I get to choose too, so I’m pickin’ two, those two Crazy Lace pretending to be Lagunas. Sweet pair ya cut there., Jason. Thanks Rich!  You know...good point. Those could be Laguna Lace. It was sold under a "trade-name"...which I could find no reference to that name other than the auction by the seller. Really nice Jason, Top of the tree stuff, you're a star. it's too cold to do any cutting here, not snowing cold just frosty cold. I don't mind winter but it sure curtails paddling around in water. Thanks Paul! Yeah...we're going to be over 100 degrees here today. I refuse to complain (out loud) because when it's 30 below here, I will be wishing for a bit higher temperatures! LOL Jason, thanks so much for the titillation of my two remaining brain cells. It's been a while since I've taken the time to look at your cabs, too long indeed. If it ever goes below 100 deg. here again, I may just finish setting up my new cab machine and give it a whirl again--you certainly have motivated that. Thank you so much Susan! Well I hope you are able to get that cabber up and going! There's something about finishing a cab that is so mentally rewarding...which you know.  Whoa!!! That's one sa-weet set of cabs!!!

Great cabs Jason! All really nice cuts and gorgeous materials.👍👍 I’m not surprised it’s the lighter of the woods that you were able to finish. For some reason that darker chunk is less stable. I discovered that when I slabbed it.😭☹️ It will cut a nice cab once you find the areas to avoid but unfortunately it will likely be pretty small. It’ll be interesting to see if I notice that same trend continuing with the dark material. I’m not sure how much more I have though. That was kind of an unusual coloring and material. It almost seems more “agatey” or even more like a common opal type of material, I can’t quite pinpoint it but it’s different from the lighter wood. Anyway great cabs, quite productive, and I think you picked the best option, cabbing over staring at your screen!

I'm super grateful...so big thank you on that! It's one of the "softest" petrified woods I've worked. I knew not to touch it to the 80 grit. I started on the 220 hard...but even the 280 soft was doing a good job of removing material! |

Beauties, Jason! The Crazy Lace with the peach druzy is amazing. You need to send me that Psilomelane so I can set it in silver for you as a pendant. That may be the most kick ass cab you've made to date. The Hell's Canyon is mad sick, too.  Thanks Robin! Seriously? You honestly think that Psilomelane is really all that?? That dang druzy cab was a pain! LOL - I shallowed the initial grind on that...and ended up with a "flat spot"...which took forever to correct. Mainly because I refused to go back to the 220 hard! LOL Absolutely! I gotta thang for Psilomelane.  |
