Since Highland Park's pump is out of stock regularly, I couldn't order their pump with the saw. So this was my solution. It essentially is a series of reducers and tubes to link into the tubing provided with the saw. The Sump pump is a Lil Giant CP115 1/70HP. I was afraid it would be too much for the little (6mm) lines going to each side of the 14" blade but the pressure is spot on. I'm using water at the moment but I will be getting some mineral oil for the saw in the near future to start giving the petrified wood I have laying around some slabbing love. If I were to make any modifications for this I would use a 90 degree elbow for the feed from the pump as it doesn't fit easily in the hole provided for cooling in the steel plate. I'll update this when I get an oil solution working with this. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. - Rob

Rocknrob - I just got the same saw delivered today. Still in the crate but as you mentioned, the pump for this saw is on backorder from HP. I don't have my bench setup yet to mount this onto but i'd like to get ahead of it and pick up a pump. I also bought the house kit as well as the HP cutting oil. I see the pump setup you use but do you know if this pump would work with mineral oil as well? Also can you tell me what hose sizes you used to reduce the size down to fit with the HP hose kit? Any info, tips and lessons learned from your experience with this saw so far would be greatly appreciated sir. Best Regards, John

I need to refine that coolant hose mess I have there. Silicone works for sealing things up now but I'm the kind of person that goes for aesthetic and I'm thinking. This looks UGLY

Best Regards, John I went for the Lil Giant 1/70 HP pump, you could possibly use the 1/50 but I thought that would be overkill. The smaller pump I had there earlier was for a fountain and was too weak. I'm about to know today how well it pumps light mineral oil (NF 70) like the stuff you get from HP. It's pretty close to water in weight so I would assume that it would be able to pump a light mineral oil pretty well. In my first configuration I went and purchased all the different hoses and reducers to take the tubing from 5/8 ID down to the black tubing that comes with the saw. However I don't think it's true 1/4 OD tubing and possibly is 6mm instead. I had to use silicone and a wire tie to get the fitting done tight enough to work with the pressure from the pump. My caveat is that there is probably a far more efficient way to reduce from the large barb that comes with the Lil Giant but as this is my first go with using flexible rubber tubing, I went with the "Brute Force" method of hooking up with the coolant. - Rob

Rocknrob - Excellent info and much appreciated! I'm glad I'm not the only one that's OCD about aesthetics when it comes to a project. I'm a big fan of finding creative solutions to a problem or what I call good ole fashioned Okie Engineering 😉. However, being an old submarine sailor, I'm also prone to what we used to call "beating it to fit and painting it to match" when called for 😄. Looking forward to hearing how well it worked with oil as well.

This is closely related to the "spaghetti against the wall" method.

Since the basin of the saw seemed much larger than it needed to be for cooling with the oil. I did a little repurposing of a tray to help displace the oil so it would A) Not need as much to cool and B) Elevate the level of the oil itself without blocking any of the drains that I use (This does block the back drain but I don't use that one).

Smart solution. Love it! You went and got all scientificky 😄. Question, I'm looking at bench options to put this thing on. I've got a space on my current bench next to my slab saw that's about 32" long and 25" deep. Do you think this is enough space to sit this saw on? Thanks again for all the info here.

That will leave a little bit of room for it especially if you're like me and have the drain end dangle off the table. More than enough room on the sides. I ended up building my own utility cart out of scrap wood and some wheels and put it on top. I tend to overbuild things so I could probably sit on it while working on that saw but it works well enough for my purposes. I think I need to get a chunk of plywood to bolt the saw to it as a base as I don't currently have it, then it would be easier to tilt it for cleaning.

bigjohn It looks like oil is the way to go with this saw. I would have had to stop work and sharpen the blade after about 1 1/2 cuts of this material. It's a pretty darn hard combination of jasper agate and hematite. Remarkably minimal amount of spray I might add... well, outside of the housing. With water I was usually able to cut one of these slabs on this particular material. I would suggest buying the CP2 from Lil Giant to work with oil. It's a little sluggish on the CP1 but with a little bit of repositioning the tubes closer to the blade it did well.

Awesome to hear the space I've got will work and your spot on regarding the drain hanging off. That actually answered a question I forgot to ask as well. Regarding over buildng, I'll have to post some pics of the bench I built that this is going on. Definitely went the overkill route as I tend to do. This will sit at the end of the bench where I have a slab saw, trim saw, flat lap and my smaller 6" KGN-6 cabbing machine. Actually built the bench a couple years ago for this type of setup. The unknown variable though at the time was the actual larger saw (drop or slab as well as size) that I'd eventually end up buying. Also thank you greatly for the follow-up info and recommendation on the pump with oil route as well and again, you answered another question I had regarding oil overspray. I had started down the rabbit hole on building a Lexan hood if overspray was gonna be a problem. Actually did that on my tiny 4/5" Trim Saw (water only but it did splash alot). Hopefully between work and wife directed chores I'll be able to get everything up and running so I can post up some pics. Thank you greatly again for all your awesome help here.
