This is a fair example of the variety I've got on my hands. Quite a bit of the medium blue material with the nice marbling. Still plenty of rough in the bin for me to slab up but Ebay has been no help for pricing as I've seen it go from $0.30 - $0.08 a gram (the latter for larger quantities). If you were in the market for Sodalite, what would you think would be a fair price for this stuff. It's photographed wet and is ~1/4 inch thick. - Rob

I want to work with material that has a distinct pattern and multiple colors. I got some free lapis and made a cab. It came out nice but have no desire to make another.
I can't answer your question. Price is always a factor of quality and desirability.

Just out of curiosity I checked ebay and found this pattern very interesting: If a Sodalite is of common patterns, the slabs won't be very desirable because the market for common Sodalite cabs is quite small and the cabs prices are super cheap.

Ahh, gotcha. Ok that makes sense as these patterns aren't all that out of the ordinary. I will say that the darker stuff has some of that chatoyance that pops up every so often although the name of that particular mineral escapes me. I love that stuff. I'm also a sucker for blue colored minerals. So materialistically speaking, if I were to get a return on this sodalite I would have to cab it and make jewelry. Most likely with copper wrap and or silver filled wire. Might as well get my hands dirty on this stuff then. I haven't done much wrapping and since this is relatively inexpensive, sounds like a good candidate. 😁

The darker pieces seem to tumble better than the light blue pieces. I love the color of Sodalite and my first order from rockshed had some Sodalite crushed pieces to tumble. Not the super easy material to tumble though...

If I were a betting man, I would say that was a disc of lapis with a lot of the grey material in it instead of sodalite.
