Great job!! I like to grind my frustrations away, too. Nothing like venturing into a whole new realm at the wheels.
This metallic one could be Josephine's Crown- lucky you! Gorgeous cab!

Making the best of a $5 grab bag is awesome! Very nice. I really like the orange agate too. The Josephine's Crown would have passed my eye until it was named. Now, I got to know what it is and where it comes from. Thanks for sharing and sad to hear about being laid off.

Thanks! That red/orange agate was super fun to polish although the middle section didn't want to shine up as much as the area around it, it must be the material (quartz?). I had to look that one up after you mentioned it since I've never heard of Josephineite before but I remember initially looking at it and thinking "Oh what the heck, it's got an interesting patten". It was VERY ugly and rusty when I picked it out but once I polished the patina off it really shone through. Super nice material to work and that turned out to be a pretty big cab that I wanted to freeform about 45mm at it's widest and 35mm at it's shortest. It's kinda too big for a jewelry piece but it's a nice specimen. I have no idea what it's worth though. I definitely need to improve my polishing skills, they are a bit shinier than the "muted polish" that I see sometimes but it's not that super gloss that some of you folks can work out. That's the bar I want to hit. - Rob

I forgot to mention, Pinolite is more fragile than I thought it was. That cab was a re-polish of a much nicer cab that was dropped.

I too am sorry to hear you were laid off. You made good use of the time though! It was cool to see sodalite and lapis together - I've had to learn the difference sorting slabs - they used to jus go into the blue pile Nice work on those cabs - I like the one to the left of the lapis a lot, it's got some pretty patterns. Hope things work out for you

I think that's why I like those two (except for the blue bit, I love blue) they're soft enough to get through the patience barrier.

Getting laid off sucks! Glad you have something to keep you busy, maybe you can supplement your income!
Very nice work especially considering you're using a dremel at times!
Practice practice practice. Practice makes perfect!

I just learned that I was making the jump in my polishing from 3000 to 50,000 (they shipped the wrong diamond paste to me on Amazon). So that might explain why I've got a hazy shine on my rocks. That's a pretty big gap in polishing compound.
