Thank you. I posted it a week or so back but quickly took it down because I hated the photo.

Did you also make it on your cabbing machine? Must be a lot of work to grind and polish a big cab. How does it look when backlit?

Wondering what you are going to do with a 3 inch cab? Display as is?

Wondering what you are going to do with a 3 inch cab? Display as is? Pretty much 😂 So I do make a lot of bigger cabs. My whole purpose is for the point of display. I could just face polish slabs, but sometimes capturing features is part of all the fun

I like how the milky part looks like it has a lavendar tint to it. I think it was a good choice to cut a big cab to display. I've seen big ones sold as palm stones before, no clue what you need a palm stone for but there seems to be a market for everything rock related. Sweet milky doodoo butter. Noice.

Big dendrite so why not a big doodoo cabochon to go with it. Maybe i'll make a necklace out of it. Flava Flaaaavvvee

Dozens of huge cabochons as wall displays should be perfect. They can be all kinds of shapes. I like framed jaspers from Hans Gamma's website, but I feel they don't have to be framed and we can save some space on the wall to display these polished masterpieces.

So that’s essentially what I’m doing. The wall display frames. I’m putting a face polished slab or two in the frame surrounded by different examples of the material as display cabochons. Hans gamma won’t have Sh…. On me 😂

That would be an excellent project. Definitely show us your progress. 100%. My goal is to cover an entire wall in my house with them. If no one in my family (nieces or nephew) want them, then I might try to donate all of them to a museum before I die. Would be a great way for future generations to identify material.

I had to look up Doodle Butter. It’s a tasty sounding pumpkin cookie. New to me. Thanks!

I could just face polish slabs, but sometimes capturing features is part of all the fun Sorry to resurrect an old thread but what is your method for face polishing slabs? I've messed around with end plates, 8x3 expandable drums as well as vibe tumbling. I've had decent results with all 3 methods but can't really say any one way works any better. Its still a pain and always takes much longer than I had hoped. I would think especially using a flat lap that once I git the initial surface flat it would be smooth sailing but I always seem to get flat spots/under cutting. The only other options I can think of would be either using a Richardson ranch sander or one of the handheld wet grinders. I don't really have the space (or money) to buy another piece of equipment as much as I'd love to. I've seen the handheld wet grinders for sale for around $50 on marketplace but again, im real short on space and don't have a good bench vise to secure the stones. Alot of rambling, sorry! How do you go about polishing slabs?

In short, I have a machine with a drip system with interchangeable belts. I think the wheel diameters are appropriately 6 inches. So just work them on there. Basically an oversized cabbing unit. I also have a bull wheel with expando drum.
