Cabby is BURNING with desire to know what these are! Can anyone stoke the flames, or will she burn out?! (yes, I got lazy and tossed all the “flame agate” type things in here. I don’t know how people tell them apart!) #1 cathedral, maybe? #2 more cathedral? #3 think I see more orby chalcedony beyond the area I cut… more of the same? Potentially Maury moss? #4 has more red further into the rock, but that end cut is awesome! Carey plume. Thanks realrockhound#5 sagenitic something… not sure what Mexican sagenite. realrockhound shoots, he scores! I’m sure he shoots more but I am closing my eyes now. #6 uuuhhhh… rock?awesome but confusing! #7 #8 #9 #10 #11 #12 #13

Those flames are sick. That is all I can add to this conversation. I love those kind of flames!

Am sure there’s plenty of people with a LOT more, but with how it was all dumped on me at once I am kinda “wtf am I going to do with so many flame agates?!” i feel the same way about the tiger/hawk eyes (but not the crazy lace, since I am “collecting” it lol)

In my little bit of research on those seam type flame agates - I came up with 3 locations - Bay of Fundy, Novia Scotia, and Mexican Flame - no location on those - just labeled Mexican Flame.

3. Potentially Maury moss. 4. Carey plume agate. 5. Mexico sagenite.

Those are names that I considered as well, but quickly realized that I simply don’t know enough to tell different flame agates apart! I’ve noticed that most locations have many potential patterns, and multiple locations around the world will have similar ones… guessing it comes down to the matrix? Or maybe the plumes have a very slight difference that I can’t recognize? No clue lol. It’s a rock.

3. Potentially Maury moss. 4. Carey plume agate. 5. Mexico sagenite. I googled Carey plume and nearly fainted! I can’t believe my noob @$$ cut something that valuable just to look inside! Thank goodness it was just a small shave off the side!

Thank goodness it was just a small shave off the side! I know for a fact that’s what it is. I have some that has that crystal quartz top like that. Plus those lil red plumes in there are dead ringer for Carey. Also… after we just got done talking about butchering material 😂

I am REAL tempted to just start posting rough and hoping other people can recognize it uncut 😆 yeah, I know that won’t work for many things, which is why I’ve been trying for small windows that won’t greatly affect future slabs or display pieces.
HEY EVERYONE! Label your darn “collection” so people won’t chop it up to identify it in the future!

I have been looking at my pics on a bigger screen tonight (normally on my iPhone) and am fascinated by some! Hoping to get more IDs! My original plan had been if no one knows I will try slices at different angles, but now I am scared to cut anything lol

My original plan had been if no one knows I will try slices at different angles, but now I am scared to cut anything lol I am guessing they are all Bay of Fundy. The Bay of Fundy touches both provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Canada and a small piece of Maine. I believe Nova Scotia has scarfed all the good rocks. None of yours look like Mexican to me. The reds are different in the Mexican that I have. Here's a link that may help. Some of yours look very similar to pictures they have. Hope that helps!

hummingbirdstones I thought Nova Scotia was the most likely, due to availability and location. The pics in the link are good! Will spend some time later with a bigger screen, zoomed in, comparing plumes and matrix 😆
