Notice I said THINKING. My Lortone 10" is still plugging along just fine but is in need of refurbishing. I haven't been using it much lately because of crazy life in general & it is really nasty so clean up coming soon. Paint is coming off so needs cleaned & repainted and that is just something I really don't have time for plus it would be a little too challenging for me. I started looking around & see there is practically nothing that qualifies as a 10" with power feed & hood in a stainless so I might have to go with regular painted saw. Lortone doesn't make slabs saws any more, so that is out. All I found was Covington or HP. The other option would be to upgrade to a 12", 14" being a little too much for me. Possibly a good refurbished one? Any input on what is a good, easy to work with slab saw with power feed from you all for a short, elderly woman who just won't quit, but still has a few challenges to deal with would be much appreciated.

Is your Lortone a trim/slab or the cabinet style slab saw? The copy of the LS10 from HP China is about the only thing like it out there, but at about $1500 plus shipping kinda spendy and currently out of stock anyway. If I were anywhere nearby I would help, they are relatively easy to work on, but a lot of heavy lifting involved due to the separate pan. I might be getting 2 of them in a few weeks, both in need of much repair.

Hey there, Rockoonz, it's a Lortone ST-10 slab saw with cover & power feed. I bought is used, refurbished and it's still a great saw.

I can recommend the SS 10" from Highland Park. It's a solid trim saw but with the caveat that it's not power feed and the vice that comes with it needs a bit of modification to hold anything larger than 2 inches for slabbing. Bonus is that is can run on both water or oil and you can get an optional cover for it. You can also buy smaller blades (I've got a 6" blade I use for the finer stuff) too. The vice is also optional but TBH I don't use it much.

Thanks for the info. I really have to have the power feed though. I've been spoiled & I'm way too busy to stand & wait until a rock is cut through. I have a SS 8" trim saw & love it but it is specifically for trimming out preforms.
