When a man gets an expensive custom pistol it's only natural to want it in a custom holster and belt rig. I was able to make the leather part of the set. There was one thing missing that required skills above my experience and that was the buckle. Of course, nothing common would do, it had to be custom and worthy of the ensemble. It also had to be masculine, rugged and handsome. I was at an impasse to find this masterpiece until Patty came along. Here is the tigereye and copper belt buckle I commissioned liveoak to make for me. It's everything I had hoped it would be. Thanks Patty.

WOW, Randy ! I'm in awe of how well the belt buckle compliments your custom leather work (Which looks superb, BTW). The color coordination is amazing, the copper, tiger eye & python skin look great together ! You got it just right, even down to the antiqued copper "Chicago" screws on the belt.
I'm really glad it worked out so well & most of all that you're happy with my creation. Thank you, again, for the challenge - Out of my normal comfort zone, but I learned from making it.

Both pieces are great! I hadn’t considered using rocks for belt buckles, before. Great way to combine materials and skills. I always use rivets for belts, but now I am debating getting some Chicago screws… would give the option to take the belt apart whenever I get around to stitching it (I am lazy, rarely bother stitching belts or straps but they stretch if I don’t, so always stitch them down the road to stop from stretching further)

I get them from Tandy Leather and they come in different finishes and lengths. I like the 3/8" length for heavy gun belts.

Pretty sure I have Chicago screws around somewhere since I’ve used them for prototypes before. Since I keep large amounts of rivets around in multiple sizes and finishes I am not shy about using them! Are the screws from Tandy better than their rivets? Stopped buying much from them over the years because I was getting subpar materials. Don’t have one near me so I was ordering online and seemed like they always shipped me bottom of the barrel hides, and the rivets were super thin and flimsy. Now I mostly get things like rivets, needles, and threads from Etsy, and Maverick is hands down my favorite for hides!

I admit, I had a sneak peek of the buckle and I KNEW you would love it, but I had no way of knowing how awesome it would look with your belt and holster. Good choice for a stone. Patty did a specular job! The copper soldering and patina are perfect!

So far no complaints with their Chicago screws and I concur with your points about their other things. I'll have to check out Maverick, thanks for the tip.

RWA3006 just a tip, maverick frequently has REALLY good sales and deals, so it’s worth checking regularly when you are looking for something. Multiple times I got fantastic pig suedes during sales plus bogo that end up being $5 per 7ft hide in the end. They are also a reseller for horween second run hides, which are still great if you don’t need large pieces. Once I discovered maverick I just wasn’t satisfied with what I was getting from anyone else lol maverickleathercompany.com/
