#2 Richardsons sunset jasper. Rare Whoa, it is? Didn’t know it can have those shades! I have some chunks of “Oregon sunset agate” that I assumed Richardson because of the colors, but now I am not so sure…

I have some chunks of “Oregon sunset agate” that I assumed Richardson because of the colors, but now I am not so sure… It comes in a few different varieties/color ways. The most sought after is the purple. Don’t think they ever got much of that out of there. Lemme see your stuff, I’ll tell you if it is.

And yes! That stuff is from Richardsons. There is another variety from central Oregon called OCHOCO sunset. It’s a different material from a different deposit

And yes, same as the #2 slab. I personally have, and have seen enough of this material and the variances in it, to confirm what you and tribe has is Richardsons “Oregon sunset agate/jasper”
Now you know the deal!! You owe me a chunk 🤣🤣🤣 jk

I was talking to a lady selling some decent black opal at the prineville show. The big jars with black knobbies were $800+ she told me some gal bought a jar, after she told the gal she was going to throw them in the tumbler 😂. The lady selling was like if I knew that and the transaction hadn’t gone through, she wouldn’t have sold them

realrockhound - thanks for the ID Question - is this the same material I saw you talking about in the traveling box? Second question - Do you see the polka dots in that piece? Is it close to the polka dot mine? Just wondering. cabby - derail away sweetness. This is RTH community forum - not the tribe united forum - though I do tend to get a little post extravagant at times. I love all derailments. That makes this a real conversation. I had to google black opals to figure out why they would be worth $800 - they are pretty! Can't imagine anyone tumbling them, but those are rich people problems. Some of those rich peeps eat gold...makes me wonder if in a million years some advanced species will find the super rare gold flake human coprolite....maybe.
