Hello friends, I usually have a tumbler or three going at all times but usually don't post the results as I'm still dialing in my methods. This latest batch was a mix of all the softer stones I've had trouble getting a good polish on in the past (sub 7 hardness). These were tumbled in my minisonic mt4. I skipped the initial coarse stage 1 so the process was as follows: 220>1Tbsp>3days 500ao>1Tbsp>2days 1,000ao>1Tsp>2days Micro alumina >1/2Tsp>1day Cerium oxide >1Tbsp>1day Now I've never ever used cerium for anything (I use tin oxide or rapid polish 61 for cabbing) but seeing how I had apache tears in there I figured I'd give cerium a try as thats what professionals use to polish glass and obsidian is volcanic glass. I probably used more than necessary but ill dial that in in the future. Im really happy with the shine I got on them. I thought I might have to re run just the apache tears by themselves afterwards but I don't think ill need to! Without further adieu... Apache tears (cat wanting soo badly to help!) Next up wisconsin moonstone (photos don't do these justice, there is a good blue flash on most!) Rhodochrosite from Franklin NJ (weird location I know) these have a black mineral in them as well...not the highest grade but I got them more as a curiosity than anything else. Unfortunately they don't really fluorescent. Next up is a conglomerate stone i got in the "Mexican rocks tumbling mix" from kingsley... Then we have turquoise, varicite, mariposite, and a piece of malachite Finally some sodalite (2 different sources, one from kingsley, the other from the gemshop) Let me know what you think!! Thanks fir looking

Nice tears. I have some very small ones I need to put in the tumbler and see how they do. Like the cat too.

chris1956 thanks! And yeah if I learned anything from this experiment it is that the more filler the better! Also the cerium seemed to help a bit. I was worried I may have to run a batch of only apache tears but that was not the case!!
