Actually it's not a customer. I went to his house and gave him a bid for a new air conditioner but he went with someone else. I had talked to him about rocks and he told me that he inherited some from his parents. He had already got rid of all the equipment but still had some rocks. I finally got by and picked them up today. He told me to take them home. Look them over cut of them if I want and tell him what I would give him for them. This is the 29 lb piece of Hornitos Poppy Jasper that I pulled out and washed off.

Tell him it’s all leaverite and best suited for lawn art. You’ll give him $50 😂

Holy moly! That thing is massive! Great job, you can take the rest of the day off. Please please post some photos if you slab it up.

I'm definitely going to slab it. I'm doing some of the smaller stuff I got from him right now. I don't know if it will fit in my 16" saw. It's bigger than it looks in the pics.

I knew it was big when you said 29 pounds - I thought a 15 pound rock was massive.... 29 pounds is 2 of those!!!

There are two kinds of Hornitos; one from Morgan Hill and the other from Hornitos. Yours is the Morgan Hill. They are both rare and the MH slabs will be worth a lot of money.

Wowser! That is a nice hunk Of Hornitos! If it is from Morgan Hill, it is obviously not Hornitos and that boulder is. That boulder looks to be from the old Flora pit or the original pit we called the Holy Grail pit that yielded a really big lens of jasper and some huge hunks with that color combination. Unfortunately, Hornitos poppy comes in a multitude of patterns and color combinations and each pit often contains several types. Same with Morgan Hill poppy and the other central coast range types. They all have many variations too. That is why so much Hornitos is mislabeled Morgan Hill or vice versa.
