the good picture was easier because the stone was smaller and clean. The big dark ones were hard to get light to go through properly for a photo.
I believe the majority of them are rhodolite garnets. The bigger darker ones might be a different type.

I was just looking at your pictures and if you look real close at picture number two above and just slightly to the right I can see two or three of them definitely have purple in them Take a look and see if you can see them to I see it, yes.

I think your right there probably are all three types that I mentioned above that orange color could possibly be leaning towards a brownish red garnet
To be honest it’s kind of hard to really tell the colors just from the pictures its not the same as in hand with these

Could be some ant hill garnets, too. Very red. I love them! hummingbirdstones , I think, knows more about them.

I don’t believe they are Idaho garnets. Some garnet will tumble nicely others can be faceted. All of the garnet I’ve tumbled has been almandite. Thanks for showing them.

If you have a lot of smalls they can be used as filler when tumbling (vibe) really hard and intricate material -- ie chalcedony roses, botryoidal stuff and yes fire agate. I collecy garnets from ant hills and use anywhere from a handful to a cup in a small vibe load.
