I've got a bag of rough - it looks like an agate - purple to blue in color. I know it's a long shot, but maybe someone knows what these are. I'm changing this second photo - this is a photo not in direct sunlight.

Definitely chalcedonies with many looking like in the form of agates. Could not say from where as blue agate is found in several places around the world including 3 locations here in Nevada for banded blue agates and one location for blue eye agates I know of.

Thank you, that's even better than I hoped with this one. I knew it a long shot, I appreciate the info.

How big are those? Requesting pics of the largest piece! I think the skin on that one might match some of mine (currently lumped I with white skin Brazilian but different skin).
Are all of these for sure the same thing? I don’t know nearly enough but some make me think of Madison blue while others are more Holley color/pattern. Really curious since I also have tons of blue agates to identify! My biggest issue with agates is that guides and online photos never want to show the skin. There’s tons of agates that look quite similar inside so I try to compare matrix, but hard to find useful pics!

Btw when I say something reminds me of whatever, it normally means that I don’t think that is what it is but that is where I start my search. Whenever I am reminded of something I know exists I start my Google search there, and follow the trail of other names I find as well as check what else is in the region. If I have absolutely no clue I start with flipping through books to find names to google. I always do extensive Google image browsing even after I am fairly sure of what something is so I can see as many variations of details as well as matrix/skin to verify my matches lol. I go about the hard way…

cabby - I don't know if they were all from the same location - I assume so because they were all in one ziplock bag. I took a photo with quarter so you can see the size: Here are some of the exposed faces on these: This one is polished a bit I'm the same as you with the image search and the googling like mad trying to find things, you're not alone!

Oh man, these T-eggs are giving me a headache. I know I've seen them but the matrix is bugging me. If I had to guess, I'd say Little Naches Blue t-eggs from Washington or MT. Airy Blue t-eggs from around Austin Nevada but around Deming New Mexico there are some similar blue ones too.

These agates no longer amuse me. they were a hit in the 90’s Thank goodness my agates are from a better era 🤣 I thought those agates were interesting until you said bob saget. Then I got bored with the same old general audience appeal over and over… I like my agates to be more unique and make me think.

It’s come to me. So I don’t know the name of what they call them per se. But I know where they come from. And it’s all from that stupid matrix. They come from the owhyhees, Oregon.
