Hello. I live in Asheville, NC. I was wondering if someone in this forum would tumble a few rocks for me. I don’t have any of the equipment or experience to do it myself. Thank you.

After shipping the costs both ways and paying someone to polish you can just about pay for a 6.lb drum tumbler

Or you could go to the nearest rock club and ask, or go to their annual show and buy some.
Good luck! I’m not a tumbler but I’m glad some are because I like shiny rocks, too.

Try listing this in the marketplace. Say "wanted" in the title and be a little more specific with your needs. More people will see it there.

I think finding a rock club close by is your best bet. Franklin Gem & Mineral Society, and Henderson County Gem & Mineral Society are the closest clubs to Asheville that have lapidary equipment. However, there might be clubs closer that have members with tumblers that might be willing to polish your rocks.

There is also the possibility that your rough may not be good for tumbling-depending upon what it is: you may need someone with more specialized skills/tools.

I have had people on FB reach out to me about polish rocks for them. The problem is that you don't specify what you want tumbled (size, type amount). How much you are willing to pay (shipping costs, trade value, Tumbling fees) And the most important item- What are you expecting. (rounded perfect polished stones, more natural shaped polished stones, polished slabs). Most people seem to want something perfect for a project that they need done in a couple weeks. Tumbles can take several months. A 2 or 3 week turn around is very difficult to achieve. Post what you want tumbled, and what you are offering for compensation, and what your time line is. You will probably be very disappointed in what we are going to ask as far as compensation as this is not a cheap hobby by any means.

I think this post is a ‘one and done’ type. They signed on the 21st, posted this message and haven’t been back since. I’ll tell you what though, I love how kind people are on this forum and how y’all are always willing to help someone out
