I like playing with challenging scraps. This one probably was never good enough to work on, but the tiny thread of crystal left hanging at the back beckoned. On the bright side it didn't break. On the other hand it's got too much bona fide junk around it to ever be a good cab.
Still, I'd like to clean the base of it out so the whole thing sparkles. I've run it through the ultrasonic cleaner (not a good one - a $10 one from amazon) that was enough to get the cerium and some of the mess out, but it's still got plenty of dinge in there.
I'd be grateful for your ideas!

My idea is pretty low tech but I've had decent luck with a tooth brush with a little dawn on it and then pound those bristles in to the area that has the stuck stuff. Then scrub. I am usually able to get the leftover polish out of little pits by doing that.

You might also try a spot cleaning gun that is used in the laundry industry. Add Dawn to the water.

Wow that looks amazing I like that live edge. I keep thinking of how to put silver around it to make it pendant, almost like you would need a backer stone. You a picked a great piece for us thx for sharing ( forgot to ask what will you be doing with it)

It was a last minute whim, and it's got some pits that annoy me. I may try filling it with some mica+epoxy to make a kintsugi type effect. It would probably do best as a piece of jewelry, but that's beyond my skill set.
