Greetings, All, Recently retired. I decided to dig out my Dad's 50 year old "Craftool Lapidary Tumbler." (along with some cans of carborundum grit) I had seen him use it those many years ago, but as a teen, i wasn't into it at the time. So, now, i decided to try firing up the old tumbler. Very much resembles the Thumler "Model B". Anyway, the liner and lid gasket were stiff with age and leaked badly. I have messed around with different ideas for trying to stop the leaks, including a new gasket from the Thumler Model B. In the meantime, my kids took pity on me and bought me a small 3 lbs. tumbler for Christmas. So i have run a few batches, bought a second "double barrel" tumbler and have found that i can't stop obsessing over rocks. Now i find myself plotting getting my hands on a larger rotary tumbler and a Lot-O vibratory. Glad to hear they are back in business. Waterville, MN is actually in my neighborhood, so may have to pay them a visit.
Anyway, i suddenly find myself spending much of my free time scouring lake beaches, creek beds, old gravel quarries, landscaped parking lots (river rock!) for rocks i can try in my tumblers. So apparently this is getting serious, so i might as well learn something from the people who know. All this to say: that's why i am here. looking forward to it.
Enough here for now. May "see" you elsewhere in the site.

By your description, I see you are not who I thought you were at first. So, where are you? I am in Faribault.
