Hello, all welcome from Westfield Indiana. I have always loved rocks and crystals and I have decided that my new early retirement hobby is polishing all of the rocks that I collect while I hike. I’ll be looking for some guidance since I am a super noob. I have one small rock Tumbler and hopefully by the end of the evening I will have a second one ordered. So if you have any suggestions for me, I am interested in a larger barrel, vibratory polisher. I follow Michigan rocks on YouTube. He loved his lot-o-Tumbler that he used for 10 years but the new one he got is not as good as his old one and he says he has been hearing of a lot of reviews of them going bad within months of purchase. Hit me up if you are in or around Indianapolis Indiana area. Looking forward to meeting some of you. 🤗

Welcome from Missouri. I like the Lortone rotary tumblers. I have a QT12 (12 pound) and it does well. I also have a Lot-O and Mini-Sonic vibratory tumblers. Like them both. You can get more in the Lot-O and generally I would say it does a little better than the Mini-Sonic. Not sure if they have solved their motor issues or not. My motor died after 9 months and I converted it to using a concrete vibrating motor. Not too hard to do and there are several threads about converting them on this forum if you need to.

Welcome from Austin, Texas. I use a vibe for pre shaped material with success. I will also add that unless the stone is soft a rotary machine must be used to get the desired shape. Good luck with your new hobby.

Welcome to the forum from South Dakota! I have a UV-18 vibe...and love the size of it!! Be careful going too big on a vibe compared to your rotary. In my opinion, the rotary should be bigger than the vibe...in most cases. You'll spend a LOT of time shaping rocks in the rotary...with only a percentage ready to move to the vibe. Sometimes people have issues keeping enough material moving forward to justify a vibe run...
