I've been real busy lately! I guess that's what I do when I have the house to myself for a few days!! I have been trying out a new idea/method. I have been leaving my 60 grit nova disc as my endplate. I've started to do my initial shaping on a textured 60 grit wheel, using the "cab rest" i cut my girdle, refine it on the 220. Then I take it to the 60 grit nova disc, this disc does not have a foam backing layer...what I do next is flatten the top of the cab and then using the vertical disc I kind of brute force it maybe you might call it and work the upper girdle line out. This has opened up a whole new world of flat topped cabs that still have the traditional girdle. It actually works really nice and I can finish off the thinner slabs that are hard to get that domed top! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! This method is *almost foolproof for avoiding flat spots...I must be foolish though as I'm still encountering the occasional one or two Close ups: Old stock bloodstone, I haven't had luck lately in getting good bloodstone, this stuff I've had awhile Mary Ellen jasper MN Purple passion laguna (agua nueva) I love the first one, looks like the sun over a mountain to me with storm clouds in the distance!the second one i see a lady dancing! Willow creek jasper Ocean jasper Wisconsin moonstone. I'll put a pic without the guitar pic as I think the camera focused better! Indian paint rock i believe its called. This one reminds me of a peanut for some reason but looking at it looks more like an almond...don't bite it! Then there is this alimajo or almijo (baby malawi) Hope you likey

So pretty! The first is my favorite! Went to check my bloodstones and can’t find any that have yellow in the background nor such evenly spaced and sized flecks of red. Is that color/pattern extremely rare?

liveoak the ocean jasper came off a slab about 5x3" that I got at my club shows silent auction for $5.00. It looks like it has a face in the bottom right with mouth agape! cabby I'm not so sure if the yellow in the bloodstone is rare or not. I have a couple (also very old) small tumbled pieces with the yellow/gold in it. In all honesty though, im not a fan of the yellow so much as good specks of red in the stone. The last batch I ordered from kn was basically green jasper/heliotrope with just a speck or two of red. Disappointing to say the least.

That moonstone is cool, didn't know moonstone was found in Wisconsin. That first purple passion is my favorite, I'm a suckered for a good landscape in agate.
