I really enjoy designing and planning out big trophy pieces. Here's one I did a very long time ago and it remains one of my favorites. It has a built in 16g neck wire.
I did this for an art show. It is Brockman scenic tiger eye, carnelian and garnet. The idea was to have the sun rise behind the mountains. The tiger eye, in person, is real bright and rolls from top to bottom, so it creates a "rising" effect.

That's a pretty nice & fancy statement piece !
My only problem with "statement pieces" is that I tend to think of them, as not something to be worn, but maybe hung on the wall. But I guess that's not always true - yours looks very wearable.
Guess I have to think on this challenge further . Patty

Nice wrap Tela! Definitely a statement piece. You could make a wall piece Patty. Just hang a jump ring on it temporarily!

Great idea rockbrain and great execution rockjunquie ! I think statement pieces are great for bulky winter sweaters, especially if they are all one color. And I've got a cabochon in mind that's out at the fairgrounds right now--been playing with it for months (in my mind only). Yes, this one will be fun! If I were still knitting, I would make the perfect "statement piece sweater" for liveoak.

Too silly, Susan .
I'll get there-need to get my brain thinking on "big & bold" wearable statement piece.
Good idea - start by figuring out the cab Glad we have 2 months !

So I've been thinking about this "Statement" piece challenge & I've yet to come up with any idea for this one. But it made me think of a "statement" piece that I made some years ago.
I actually made a couple of them & gave them to my niece & nephews for Christmas one year.
It's technically not a piece of jewelry, but it is made from wire & it is wrapped, sort of. And it does have a stone !
But, it's more of a multi-media wall hanging art object.

Wow Patty! I love that! That would definitely meet the criteria and although it wouldn't have to be jewelry to be a statement piec. That one could be done in a size that it would work for that too. I'm curious about the skull. Is it copper? How did you patina it?

I'm well on my way with my piece. Somehow I've never done a wrap with more than one stone. This one will have 3 cabs and one is rather large.

All copper - the frame & skull is LOS and the wire attachment left bare. I actually think a small version could be a potential necklace (maybe for Halloween ! ).

What a great creation! I not only love the creation, the name just pushes it over the top. (Still chuckling)

What a great creation! I not only love the creation, the name just pushes it over the top. (Still chuckling) Thank you, Susan. I just knew you'd like that one . To be honest, it wasn't an original idea. But one I got 15 years ago +/- from a book by Kim St. Jean. I had to go find that book this afternoon & remind myself. She in fact intended it as a necklace & I obviously upsized it, as a wall hanging. The funniest thing, to me, is that my one nephew thought enough about it, that when it moved out of my brother's house, it went with him and got promptly hung up. He told my niece, it was one of his treasured possessions! Go figure- I don't think I even got a thank you . Sadly, I didn't make one for myself, which is odd as I usually seem to make an extra. I might just have to re-visit it for fun . Patty

Very cool, liveoak Patty! Reminds me of a cross between the Grateful Dead and Nightmare Before Christmas with a Mexican flair.

liveoak Patty, what you lose in "creativity" because you didn't come up with the design you gain in "active hunter of good patterns" points! I love the story; and the outcome. Seems like (in this case) your indirect compliment is worth its weight in effort since there is absolutely no question that his admiration for your creation is genuine. And you and I both know that the pattern/tutorial/whathaveyou is only part of it--the modifications, fixing and interpretation can be more daunting than one from "scratch." When you are doing your personally created pattern you are free to deviate at any turn; when you are trying to achieve someone else's pattern, you have a tighter standard.

^^^^^ Amen to that !
Thank you, Susan Patty
