So this is my first batch. I plan to post my batches as I do them and hope to see an improvement. This batch was shaped in a Harbor Frieght duel rotary tumbler and was finished in a TV5 vibratory tumbler. I used a grit kit from Amazon for all stages. The rocks are random rocks found on our little farm and a couple I picked up in passing. Please add any advice you may have. Rock identification isn't something I'm qualified to do I'll just let the pictures tell you what's there.

Great job! Looks like some interesting rocks. You might post closeups of some of them.

Great job(s) on those batches! The only advice I'd give at this point is to pick up some grit from The Rock Shed. General consensus is they have a lot better grit than places like Amazon...

Yeah, I already have new grit and polish from The Rock Shed and another 45# of 60-90 should be here tomorrow. I'm using the Amazon stuff on my homegrown practice rocks because I bought it already.

Your grit kit probably has 1,200 AO as the finest polish. Consensus here is that finishing with 8,000 AO is the way to go. Beautiful rocks and you are lucky to have them on your proerty.

I'm not a geologist but I believe my house sits on a very old sandbar from the Lake Bonneville flood.

Nice group! The black ones remind me of similar rocks I find here in northwest Missouri. My best guess is that they are black jasper.

I have a couple around 2" to go in the tumbler and one that the black rock surrounds another rock that I can't identify. Might be something cool in it. Might not. I'll see If I have a pic of it later.
