I was flipping through some old pictures last night and come across this set, still baffles me to this day. Usually there is a piece of grass or tumbleweed or some string, some weird shape object that would be obvious as the source of the lines, but I never found anything this day. If I remember correctly it was early spring (3/15 to be exact), not that it matters, but maybe it's a clue. I couldn't figure out what the source of these lines were. Some went down the shoreline, and others seemed to originate from the beach grass.
Anyway, if someone has a theory, I'd love to hear it.

They look a little small, but a long time ago we used to use a kids sled with steel rails to haul our fishing gear out onto the ice (if the snow wasn't too deep). Although I would expect more footprints wth them.

In that first picture it looks like the pattern/spray spreads out from the grass, that's when I started thinking it has to be natural.
It feels like when you see a shadow but it looks like nothing like the original object.
Maybe it is just tumbleweed....

I am so glad someone figured this out. It has been keeping me up at night but now I can sleep again.

I love a mystery. I'm thinking it has to be a tumbleweed.

It instantly made me think of the moving stones in Death Valley...
