So I've officially cut enough rocks in my Highland Park HTD 14" drop saw to have accumulated some "Rock Snot" which if I'm to be honest could not have been a better term. I've seen several videos on the internet and many of them were a bit on the older side. Are folks still using paper bags to chuck the snot into to try and reclaim some of the mineral oil in a bucket or has there been a better way found to do it? I was thinking of using a couple of cheap plastic drywall knives from Harbor Freight to scrape off the gunk since it's a bit small of a space to use a rubber squeegie. Any pointers for a noob slicer like myself? - Rob

I decant in plastic jugs as much as I can in a day or so and then put the concentrated sludge in the paper bag. I set a deep colander on top of a 5 gallon bucket and then place the bags in that colander. Usually use two bags. I use a set of larger plastic putty knives to scrape the thick stuff off the bottom of the saw enclosure. I usually throw that in the bag also. It takes a while for the sludge to filter through the bags which is ok usually for me. If you are in a hurry to get back on the saw you will need more oil. I just keep the filtered oil in the plastic containers until I need it again.
