Rio Grande jasper, local ranches or Mexico. The large pile at Study Butte had material from the local ranches, Rio Grande and Mexico. Sometimes a large rock pile from the Alpine area ranches might have several pieces that had exceptional color that I bought. There used to be a shop near Alpine that got material mined from the Stillwell Ranch that was usually moss but sometimes included beautiful jasper.
