Trying to get a few more sessions on my 10" star diamond saw that sits on my picnic table in central WI before the weather closes in! This saw is the perfect size for cutting small nodules that would be hard to get into a large vise. I try not to cut rocks taller than 2", I think the saw could do it but I prefer not to. Anyways, first pic is a piece of blue chalcedony i took out of a tumbler barrel when I saw a nice flat i could cut into a cab. The other ones are baby malawis (alimajo I believe they're called) The next picture are royal imperial jasper. I personally live these stones!! Maybe ill get around to cabbing some of these tonight...I have alkt of things on table to do at this point (keep finding more and more cool stuff)!!

I didn't turn any of them into cabs (yet). I did however do some face polishing of the end cuts and nodules with my magnetic nova discs. Not sure which thread I mentioned it in the other day but I start seeing a shine with these discs after 600. Ill start with a photo I took after 600: Note the 2nd stone on the left, it broke when I took it to the 1200 disc minutes later Here are the close ups after 3000 First two are alimajo agates (baby malawi) from Africa: Next up the royal imperial jasper that broke. If you look closely you can see i glued it. Breaking stones chaps my ass!! Finally we have the green royal imperial jasper. I am particularly fond of greens so this one is a treat. It takes such a high polish too! I did make a few cabs tonight too but I'll post them in the cabachon subforum. They aren't from this batch of slabs either. Thanks for looking!!
