These are the ones I'm stuck on today, from the "some fair, some marked bin." Something banded. 1. Is this just an ugly Rhodochrosite, or something else? 2. Pork Stone aka Bacon Agate - pebblesky and 1bigchicken - thank you! A stromatolite? Maybe someone knows where? 3. Stromatolite Fossil - Chlorellopsis sp. Eocene Green River Formation, Colorado - Me Multicolored Lace Agate with Multicolored stripes. 4. Something Purple. 5. Strombolite aka Spurrite - ME Gold botroidal with an chevron amythest looking stripey top. 6. Luna Agate - Mexico - Me Last - I think is a gemmy version of rhodonite. Is it? 7.

For #2, is it by any chance not very hard? Looks like "pork stone" (which is a type of marble www.ebay.com/itm/284952897759 but I don't know its scientific term).

pebblesky - I would call it around 4 - 4.5. It can be scratched with a steel knife, but not easily.

Those are some beautiful slabs to be stuck on. I acquired rough that was labeled 'bacon slab agate' that looks like your #2.

Those look great. I see some possibilities for the crack and hole cab contest.

pebblesky - Yes! That looks exactly like it. Thanks so much! 1bigchicken - Thank you. I'm glad you appreciated the slabs. I believe the bacon slab is the same as the pork slab so I credited you both. Thanks so much chris1956 - Are you talking about cutting up my slabs?!?! Blasphemy! I know, they're supposed to be cut up - just do it where I can't hear their screams.

Ok, overnight I got busy and found a few. #5 Spurrite Strombolite Mexico - Hard to find an exact slab match - but I'm 98% sure it's this material. It varies in colors from what I can tell, but the look is the same. link#3 - Stromatolite- Chlorellopsis sp. Eocene Green River Formation, Colorado link#6 - Luna Agate - Mexico - link
