I was doing a little rockhounding while I was fishing out in Montauk (Long Island); most of what we find there was dropped when the Laurentide ice sheet melted however many moons ago and created this little dongle of an Island off of New York. This fantastic orangey thunder-egg looking rock caught my eye so I grabbed it and took it home to cut apart, and to my surprise she’s not only green (kind of a rare color here - most of our rocks are iron-rich yellows or oranges), but a beautiful hydrothermal brecciated jasper! I’m absolutely in love with this so I needed to share her; first five pictures are of two slabs I tumbled, and the rest are ones I recently cut and am trying to decide if I should tumble or polish by hand. Enjoy!
