Hello from the Great Lakes! I'm off to a slower start that I had hoped. I have an FYI to hopefully help someone else. I've been running my new Lortone 33b since January. For a few months I've been seeing black stuff under the barrels and just thought I had spilled some grit...ah, no. I was destroying the black coating on the inert shaft. The shafts appeared out of stock at Rock Shed and other places so I emailed Lortone asking for an ETA on replacement parts and advice on what happened. I received a nice email the next day letting me know that the sale to Covington was almost complete and I'll be able to order soon. They also told me that grit got on the shaft, maybe from the outside of the barrel, and is causing the [rubber?] coating to deteriorate. Boy, do I feel dumb! I have a small space and likely had gotten grit on my hands when closing up the tumbler at some point, which got on the barrel which got on the shaft and just kinda dug into the rubber and destroyed it over time. Ugh

Hi from Australia and thanks for sharing. That's really useful to know and a good reminder to keep the barrel clean.

Welcome!
I feel you, I had a thumler model b (3 lb) laying around and decided to start tumbling rocks with it but the rubber ring that seals the lid had vanished, so I bought a new barrel from rock shed since they were out of seals and the barrel had stainless steel shot for jewelry and I didn't know where else to store it so I figured I could just keep that one for burnishing jewelry and ordered a new barrel.
On my first tumble with the brand new barrel I must have not had the tumbler level as the barrel lid seal was rubbing against one of the plastic bushings. By time I noticed, 2/3rds of the seal shaved away by the soft plastic bushing. Fresh rubber shavings everywhere. On the barrel, on the pulley and belt. On the nearby rebel 17 somehow. I can still use the barrel for now as the seal ring stays in place, but it does pop off easier than I'd like and I'll lose the lid and the contents of the barrel to the floor if that happens again.

Welcome from Washington state. I also went to the Lortone website and it showed up under the Covington name. I'm excited about them completing the deal. Do you have any pics of the wear on the shafts?
