I bet you have all been waiting up to see if you won. So there were 28 entries (can't believe that many). Average guess was 1217. There were 23 guesses below the actual and only 5 above. There were only 3 guesses within 100 of the actual number. And the winner is:  agatewhisperer who guessed 1776 which was only 19 above the actual of 1757. Pretty darn close! So was 1776 an estimate or based on Independence date? pebblesky and hplcman were the others within 100. agatewhisperer, I will send you a PM probably tomorrow late morning or afternoon so I can get an address and see if you want to have more of any particular stuff I showed in the pictures. Thanks everybody for participating. And thanks to the anonymous donor of the Apache tears in memory of Jean. This was a lot of fun. I can't believe realrockhound didn't win. Sorry, no recounts. Patty I thought my guess would be too high but I had just gotten done sorting through a few gallons of the tiniest agates you've ever seen so I figured it might be a lot. liveoak, here is a picture during the count. If you have a small spactula like they use for pills at the pharmacy and count in 2s or 4s and then grouup in piles of 10 and then 20 and when you have a hundred, you move them on and mark it down on paper. I won't say it was fast, but it wasn't too bad.
