Three cabs, a Montana agate, Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper, and Polka dot agate. Talk about a pain in the brain working the scratches out in all of them. The MHPJ is a doublet for stabilization, so I made the backing with crystal, not sure if you call slices of a quartz crystal optical quartz or not, but I cut it myself. I bought the Polka Dot agate from the mine in Oregon on a snowy day back in April.
Montana agate: There is a very fine fracture that goes all the way through.
MHPJ (Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper):
This is the back: Polka Dot Agate: Thanks for looking.

Really, really nice! I'm a bit hesitant to work on the big ol batch of Montana I have in the garage because it's rumored to be pretty temperamental. I'm so envious of you folks who can make concave cabochons easily. I don't have a cabbing wheel machine yet so I'm stuck in Hi-Tech flat lap land. I suppose I could use the dremel to shape things out but that would require me to get a bunch of nova points and well... I'm not motivated enough to do that quite yet. - Rob

All three are exceptional, and all your extra efforts were well worth the results ! I'm particular to the Montana. Thanks for the show,
Patty

I see so much "naked" Polka-Dot Agate that's out there...it was awesome to see a piece with actual dots! Great job on these! All three are well-done...but I'm lovin' that PDA!

Nice stuff. The MHPJ looks amazing but I'm really liking the Polka Dot. Most I see is a lot more opaque than that and it's nice to see the floating dots.

rocknrob I would categorize the Montana more as unforgiving than temperamental. My issue is getting all the micro scratches out. Two good things though, you can just keep going back, and once you get it, it's beautiful.
