Here are a few I tumbled with the Lot-O polished art glass that I posted pics of earlier. I liked the way the "green tree agate" turned out, especially the tree. The dark ones are sadolite and the guitar pic is the "maybe" basalt and quartz from the rock I found in Michigan this summer. Thanks for taking a look, Chris

I like those! I’ve been needing to break out my saw again. Something along these lines would be nice to try. Thanks for sharing!

The trees are great but I really dig that star! Thanks. I think I have a few other stars somewhere. Will see if I can find them and post. Need to make some more.

It is a great choice to use the moss agates for trees!

Nice ones. The trees are a great addition, and the star came out perfect ! I'm going to have to try a tree. I'm thinking, you're top drilling them to hang up ?
Thanks for the inspiration,

Yes liveoak, I typically drill the top which takes some careful drilling to get started. I usually (against most advice you hear) go straight at the top. You have to make sure you have it exactly centered on the top. I use a Dremel drill press (and put the tree in a small jewlers vice) and go very slowly until I can hear the bit just touch the surface. Then continue going very slowly until there is enough of a depression that the bit won't slide off the side. I put a picture of one with an eyepin below. The tree in this post (green tree agate above) is very thin so I will probably make it into a refrigerator magnet.

Thanks for the tips, Chris. Sounds a little nerve racking - but you obviously have it down Patty

You are welcome. Can be nerve racking. I use small bits 1 or 1.1 mm diameter. I had been using cheap bits but if you go too fast or burn out the diamonds, it is really easy to melt the shaft and leave the drill bit in the hole. Nothing you can do at that point. I recently switched to Crystalite Triple Ripple Drills and they seem to work much better (5X the cost) at least in the small sizes where it is easy to heat up the shaft and melt it. Since you are dealing with small holes, I try to twist or crimp the eyepin so the epoxy holds on to it better. Thanks. Great work, I love these ornaments! Thanks.
