I had a bug in me to try and get a cab done of the Lilac calcedony I cut on Friday so I found a chip of it and made a 30 x 22nn freeform egg of it. It's got a neat texture to it that doesn't polish perfectly (very small lumps and bumps) but it's like staring into the background of one of those unicorn posters my sister had when she was 10 years old. A piece of crazy lace that has some crazy parallax in it, I think this is a contestant for my first attempt at a double setting since it's very translucent. 25x 16mm Good ol Jaspagate. This rock is the gift that keeps on giving at 35mm round, so many textures to this rock. I'll break out the cerium once I get my garage back in one piece and re-arrange my lapidary carts and see what it looks like when they go above 8000K - Rob

Nice cabs! I think I like the Jaspagate the best. Those big round ones are hard to do.

Nice cabs! I think I like the Jaspagate the best. Those big round ones are hard to do. Thank you! You are right, I spend half the polishing time chasing scratches on big ones like that. I had to resort to using the "sharpie" polish method to make sure I didn't miss anything. That texture is always just showing off new looks every time I start a new slab of that Jaspagate. I've only cut half of the rough of that thing and it's been a fantastic material to learn polishing with. I need to start doing the superglue small nails method for some of the smaller cabs I need to do. Matching earrings and the like. - Rob

LOL Hahaha, there's something about that lilac color that just stuck in my mind 40 years later. Really, I think I could use more unicorn in my life sometimes 😁. Glad I could find an agatized version of it.

Nice work! The first is very pretty. I love purple stones and pastels are icing on the cake.
