While it hasn't arrived yet, this fellow was helping someone sell off her father's estate and apparently he went to the Holley Blue beds multiple times before they were closed off. I told him of my intent to cab this stuff and he said he would toss in a cabbing grade piece to make sure it was all good. It looked pretty clean and WAY better than most of the overpriced bullcrap you see currently on Ebay. I'll post actual pics once I get the box next week sometime. I've been looking for larger than tumble grade of this stuff for a while because I would love to surprise my wife with a set. It's one of the tougher things to find lately for me. This is her favorite color. realrockhound wanted to check the photos out. - Rob

What’s your plans with it? Couple of those you should be able to get some cabs out of.
I know a guy, who’s dad was one of the originals to dig it (that’s who I get mine through). He had dug quite a large amount of it and still has quite the stock.

He had dug quite a large amount of it and still has quite the stock. I know I want to make several cabochons of it, at least one for my wife. I've got a couple of silversmiths in our group I might hire out for making a mount as I don't know how to smith yet. What got me going after that was how purple jelly some of the seam looked. That super gemmy looking stuff will make excellent matching earrings and possibly small cabs so I hope to make a few sets. How much is your friend charging per pound for rough? I was figuring on about $100/pound so I got about $25 off on this one based on that estimate but the price is hard to nail down. - Rob

Pretty nice chunks. They should make nice cabs.

Pretty nice chunks. They should make nice cabs. Yeah, If anything I can repurpose the tumbles. Those seams look a little on the thin side but I'll know more when I get them in front of me. Maybe try my hand at intarsia... for the first time. What could go wrong? I'll probably convert one or two of those seams into specimen cuts with a nice flat polished side. I've got an empty spot on my rock shelf for something like this.

My wife has been wanting a holly ring for a lil while. I'll see if I can cut one here in the next day or so. Give ya some inspiration.
