I've got some material that was marked as Cady Mountain Sagenite. I've had a hard time finding Cady Mountain Sagenite in general to compare this with, so I wondered if it perhaps went by a different name or was a very old material. Here's a photo - it's a decent size slab - about 6-7" tall. Same slab, macro. I'm hoping someone knows more about Cady Mountains material or could point me in the right direction. Thanks!

There is so much material out there. New stuff constantly being discovered. Good possibility that it is.

I keep thinking that Cady Mountain was/is a popular rock hounding spot, so this should be easy to find. The lack of information makes me wonder if there's a "brand name" for this that I'm unfamiliar with at this point. I only know of 6 named Cady materials, but haven't found a sagenite so far. I'll keep digging.

There is sagenite at Afton Canyon's first entrance going South. Not sure if Afton Canyon is part of the Cady's, but if not it is pretty close.

I don't know if it is just google, or that I had the word mountain in my search, but you were able to find it so quickly, when I couldn't find a thing. I'm going to try that duck duck go search engine for others I've been unable to find using google. Thank you so much! I was able to match it up using your link, I'm pretty confident about that Cady label now.

This is one of those times when I'm glad I have you and don't have to pull out a map to find locales! You've become both my geography and geology teacher I am going to note that Afton Canyon has a sagenite and is near Cady's. I remember seeing the name Afton Canyon on something awhile back, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was!

Can never remember the name of the first road, but the second road is at Dunn, California and is Afton Canyon Road. I have found a lot more off the first road.
Lots of soft sand back there so be careful not to get stuck.

I love this. Be careful not to get stuck! I did, just a few days after getting Jax. Got caught in soft sand and the battery died while trying to get the truck out. We had to hike out 5 miles just to get to the 15 and cell reception. Then called some friends who came from Vegas to get us.
While waiting, the California Highway Patrol spotted me and I explained to them what happened. They said they would go check on my truck, which made no sense since it was in the middle of nowhere, and nobody other than them was going to drive in and find it in the middle of the night. The a******s wasted all that time looking for the truck, instead of looking for speeders and accidents on the freeway, in the dark just to tag it for towing. I don't think that was even their jurisdiction that far off the freeway. Anyway, came back next day with a tow truck who jumped the battery and pulled me out of the soft sand.

vegasjames - that sounds like quite the ordeal! Oh yeah! How's that spider bite healing up? Are you all better now? Still healing. Foot finally stopped swelling a few days ago and the ulcerations finally healed. Ankles still swell a little and feel weak, but altogether it is about 99% healed.

Only thing I have found I dislike is if you type in the name of a stone to research chemistry of formation, the first couple of pages are almost entirely sites on metaphysical properties of the stone. I don't know if these sites are paying for higher placement, but it is very irritating.

I added an "s" to Mountain and asked for Cady Mountains Sagenite Images. So far as I know there's no single Cady Mountain.

That explains why I have strange labels, like Zero Hill, North Cady, top notch, etc. Things are starting to click! I never thought to change the search beyond adding quotes. I'm glad you thought of it

Brown recluse bites take about 3 to 6 months to heal depending on the level of damage.

vegasjames - that's insane. It's hard to even imagine going through that, and yet you've endured quite gracefully, all the while helping out here on the forum. You're pretty awesome in my book!
