Here are the latest ornaments from the Lot-O. Group shot and close ups of some. The dark green trees are from a slab (bloodstone) from tribeunited. Thanks! Those two trees with the strips are amazing (my wife has already claimed those for the Christmas collection). The rose quartz trees (rose doesn't show too well in these pics) are from a slab from jasoninsd. Thanks! The green and white ones are supposed to be green tree agate. The large cross is quartzite that I found in Lake Michigan. Thanks for taking a look, Chris

The fancy jasper christmas trees look great! The way/direction you get the shapes cut is brilliant.

Thanks. I was thinking and hoping the patterns would turn out like garland.

Chris, those are amazing! And you're creating heirlooms for people, which I think is wonderful.

I love the ornaments. Don't take it wrong, as I love it, but the inclusions on the bigger cross make it look like "The Old Rugged Cross" that I heard so much about over the years in church. Great work Chris.

It did turn out with the beaten up look. Odd material. Can't decide if it looks good or not for the ornaments (in general).

Super cool looking ornaments! Are you planning to drill them at the top and hang em that way or get them wrapped?

rocknrob, Funny you should ask about how I hang them. Just finished these today. In general (see pics below), I either drill the tops and epoxy an eyepin or for the thinner ones I make refrigerator magnets. On some of them I will drill a hole through for fish line or thread (see jade pic below) although with ornaments I have been making the holes much smaller about 1 mm diameter). Just today, my wife suggested wrapping them and since you brought that up also, I may have to give that a try. I have typically drilled the holes after polishing in the Lot-O but that takes some time because you have to go slow to get the hole started right on top of a point. Everytime I would drill the hole before the Lot-O, the hole gets packed with grit or tiny rocks. I recently saw that Rob of Michigan Rocks Jugglerguy uses a water pick to clean the holes out so I will have to give that a try but it will have to be done after each stage. The two on the right side are new ones that I don't think I have shown photos of before. The last pic is one that broke when drilling the top. I think I went too fast or hard and it heated up the rock and it broke even though I had water shooting right on the drill point. I plan to reshape the top on the cabber.

Those look great! I love the variety of the materials you used for the ornaments, very pretty.
I thought about making some, but I only have a rotary tumbler. I'm worried they'd break or turn out wonky. Has anyone had good results with a rotary tumbler?
