Just wondering if anybody here knows of a source for a 2 3/4" Nova or nova-style 280 grit wheel. Diamond Pacific has stopped manufacturing them and has no inventory. None of the US based retailers seem to have 280 in stock.I have thoroughly searched ebay and stocks for the 280 are nil. I have been unsuccessful in finding an alternate manufacturer. My last resort is to buy a 600 grit and resurface it? Any ideas?

2 3/4 diameter or width? The smallest diameter I am familiar with is 4".

I think they are 2&3/8 inch diameter. I'm so sorry to hear DP no longer supplies them, I have a custom machine with six of them for doing inside curves on cabs. Luckily I have a new set of wheels for it. I think maybe your only path is like you said, buy a 600 and have it re-coated with 280. Sadly with their small diameter they don't last long.

Do you have a worn 280? Johnson Brothers recoats. My experience with a Genie is that the 280 is the worn out the most frequently. There is a comfort zone with being soft and aggressive. I've learned to treat a 280 soft as a sanding wheel rather than a shaping wheel and they last much longer.
SUVA has 140 grit Novas. I mounted a 140 grit soft wheel on my Genie and it isn't that aggressive.

Have you tried Minnesota Lapidary Supply? It is not in their online catalog but it would be worth a call to Val (owner). He often has stuff that you can't find elsewhere or if something similar is available, he may know about it.

I will call the owner, thanks for the suggestion. stardiamond I don't have a worn 280. I am building a custom machine like gunsil and am only missing the 280 to complete the set. If all else fails I will get a new 600 and resurface it.

Sounds like a sweet setup for inside curves!
