I think I'll avoid using anything that would remind me of my grandma's old ambrosia pudding. She put so much orange zest and cranberry in there that the tartness could strip the skin off the roof of your mouth. I still remember this even after 44 years later. well luckily it reminds me of something else lol, my grandma use to like to make Cow Tongue I have a friend up north who, when I ordered tongue tacos, said "I'm not interesting in tasting anything that can taste me back".

This is a great theme. If I were picking for December I would have a Christmas theme. Anyway, here is my entry for the Thanksgiving table theme. I present to you a banded calcite that reminds me of celery, doesn't necessarily look like a celery stick but it has the colors. This is my first time working with calcite. I'm very thankful to be in good health. Celery calcite preform #1 calcite preform #2 Front view Side view (apologies for the lighting that makes seeing the girdle very difficult) Thanks for taking a look and best of luck to everyone. Wow! First outta the gate. Nice cab!

If you go to a legit Mexican Taqueria, lengua tacos are friggin good. I seldom pass up a chance to taste some of that tongue. The trick is to braise that sucker until it forgets that it ever had any kind of cellular structure. Back on topic, I totally found a slab that looks like a pumpkin cheesecake... and now I'm hungry.

I'm thinking this looks like one of three things. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake or sweet potato casserole depending on what part I look at and cab. I know this is a jasper but this rough came out of a bargain bin at the local rock shop. Cost me all of $10. Makes me hungry just looking at it. The tricky part is this is only 3/16 thick which doesn't allow for too much of a dome so whatever cab I do may have to be a smaller one. - Rob

Looks like turkey to me. I found what's left of a stalactite from my previous post.

rocknrob now you need to cut it in a pie shape. Too bad you didn’t have a druzy edge for the crust

I humbly submit my cabochon for this November's contest. I think it's just an Oregon picture jasper but I'm titling it "Pumpkin Cheesecake" Here is the rough I slabbed. Dopped and sketched. View 1 View 2 View 3 And now I'm hungry again. - Rob

Bust out the dremel. Add some teeth marks to the smaller flat end 😂

Bust out the dremel. Add some teeth marks to the smaller flat end 😂 Shoot, I've got the rest of that slab. I can make another like it and call it pumpkin pie. You can definitely tell the difference from the DSLR and the cell phone pics above. I just need a darn macro lens from Santa claus I think.

Who else sees stove top stuffing in this slab i think this is what ill try to work throwing pic up to get it kicked off, we will see how this turns out lol As others stated...that's a GREAT specimen piece...and I can totally see the Stove Top Stuffing! *Stove Top always has to be chicken flavor...no other flavors come close to being as good! LOL Where did I put my Dead Turkey Jasper?!? Hahahah, Now's the time you can pull out the howlite and dremel up a nice curly pile of mashed potatoes I was thinking I had a piece of Polka Dot Agate (no polka-dots) that might work for the mashed potato and gravy look...but I like your idea way better (FOR YOU! LOL). Would pudding stone be a good material? Absolutely Victor! Thanks its not the typical we find here in Michigan but i have two slabs so hope one turns out really nice lol. I think I'll avoid using anything that would remind me of my grandma's old ambrosia pudding. She put so much orange zest and cranberry in there that the tartness could strip the skin off the roof of your mouth. I still remember this even after 44 years later. Orange Jello with carrot shavings...or lime Jello with celery slices! LOL grandparents just did things different. I have some memories like that. My grandma was the alpha female of the family so nobody had the guts to mention that the recipe was bad and being 6 years old I was unable to mention anything as I was no longer cute (AKA 4 and younger) enough to state the obvious. It perpetuated for 3 years until she tried it herself and stopped making it. She more than made up for it with peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate with candy corn made to resemble turkeys. That was a hit OMG! My wife was just talking about making those peanut butter chocolate dipped yummies! This is a great theme. If I were picking for December I would have a Christmas theme. Anyway, here is my entry for the Thanksgiving table theme. I present to you a banded calcite that reminds me of celery, doesn't necessarily look like a celery stick but it has the colors. Celery calcite preform #1 calcite preform #2 Front view Side view (apologies for the lighting that makes seeing the girdle very difficult) Thanks for taking a look and best of luck to everyone. Totally looks like celery to me!! Great entry!! Near gem quality Rhodonite 11 mm cranberry. The last of several I cut about three years ago. The only "cranberries" we'd have for turkey-day is the can of cranberry jelly stuff...you know...the kind that "glops" when it finally comes out of the can! LOL I humbly submit my cabochon for this November's contest. I think it's just an Oregon picture jasper but I'm titling it "Pumpkin Cheesecake" Here is the rough I slabbed. Dopped and sketched.
