;D here is a batch that just came out of CPP (polish) after two weeks. some of this stuff has been in the works for weeks and weeks. some of this material was gifted to me by Alice, rocks from Iraq! i tried to cab some of it with mixed results, some of it is fairly soft, but wow, it took a pretty decent shine in the tumbler. also featured is some of the last of that box i was given by my friend in NC. oh, and a fish and some bits and pieces of other stuff...... here is the whole load: a close up of the Iraqi rocks: and the NC stuff: and of course, can't forget the fish, this is a "natural" eyeball, this wasn't penned in with marker: thanks for looking!! Cool looking batch KD. You're getting better at those fish. I think this one is one of your best ever. What is the rock to the right of the fish, looks like some sort of yellow poppy jasper. Great job, as usual.

Killer shine! Top notch batch. I love the way you positioned the "eye" in the fish. In the first pic, far right side, what's that little white rock with the purple eye? Nice dryhead agate -- it looks a bit like crazy lace!

thanks, everyone, Ed, that is a stubborn piece of Leopard skin Jasper that has been in the mix for a while, Don, good eye on that dryhead, that was also a gift from Alice. and the far right "eyeball" piece is utah wonderstone. i tend to use that for filler sometimes. and even tho real shine isn't a possibility, i love the stuff anyway.
and thanks for all the fish compliments, more in the next batch!

Great shine, KD! And the fish is just too cool. You should show us a "before" so we know what to do pre-tumble for something like that to come out so well.

Ditto on the fish KD! You finally managed to integrate the "eye" from the natural look of the stone so that's a keeper for sure! ;D I was thinking that my zebra jasper that I got in that rock box would make a great angel fish so i'm saving it for when I get a saw.

KD the fish is beautiful! I used to keep several tanks...tropical and salt ...I had several Angels and Discus ...and I have to say that your Angel looks just like the real thing. would love to see you make a Discus or two... The Green Zebra Agate would be the perfect choice....hmmmm....you know...i have some G.Z. www.rockymountaindiscus.com/Dan

hey, Dan, that discus fish is very pretty! the Zebra Agate would really suit that kind of fish. i've always done translucent fish cuz they look so cool in the water, but i may experiment. how big are the Discus? quarter sized? half dollar? anyway, thanks for the link!

KD, they range in size but can get as large as 5" or so...beautiful creatures...breeders come up with new color variations...i like the natural striped blue turquoise variety...but the possibilities are endless as far as what type of stone you could use...
you know...i bet you could sell 'em to Discus enthusiasts...they are a dedicated group.

wow, 5 inchers would be hard to tumble, might come out nice on a flat lap (hint, hint, eDog).
pretty fish tho!

Nice job! You may have to change your nom de plume to Neptune - King of the Sea!
