Hi all. I guess I just happened to be in the right place at the right time again. I was at my local rock shop and they had just brought in some new poppy jasper and this was sitting right on top. With flash The other side A few closeups with flash Without flash And a couple of other chunks I picked up I've never seen this stuff with dendrites For size reference, the tiles are 4 1/4" square. Couldn't wait, I had to cut a small cab off the big one.

Another fantastic score, Ed! I guess it really pays off to visit your local rock shop three times a day

I was just lucky because I'm sure that big piece wouldn't have been there very long. Pete, the shop is closed on Sunday and Monday, so plan your next trip around that. It seems the inside of the big one is a little different color than the outside.

I don't think this stuff is from Morgan Hill. Maybe if Mel sees it he may have an idea of where it's from. It's different, but really nice. Tony, I think it must be you. Rick was showing me some of the lapis he just bought and we talked for about 15min.

Way cool Ed. I was wondering when I saw the cab until you mentioned it was different color inside. Does it lose all the orange inside or haven't you gone any deeper?

I just cut about 2" off the point of it and was able to get 5 slabs big enough to get one cab from each slab. My 18" saw is outside and I'll have to wait til it stops raining to get farther into the rock. But so far, it's pretty solid and the pattern goes all the way through. This piece is pretty awesome.

What a great find Ed! I that one with dendrites blows my mind. That's a first. You have a talent for showing up at the right time at the rock shop. Can't say for sure if that big guy is MHPJ. It looks pretty different, but then there are so many varying patterns and colors who knows? Those rocks are sooooooo pretty. I never get tired of looking at that rock. Oh, I cabbed up one of the guadalupe poppy jasper pieces from the time I was there last. I had to do alot of grinding (came from a chunk, not slab), but the results were worth it: (That's not a fracture by the way: looks healed. The whole thing is solid!) Thanks for posting those! They are stunning. Steve

Holy crap Steve. That is one awesome looking cab. Man, the colors are great and so are the orbs. Glad the fracture is healed, it would be a shame to have it fall apart. You should post that in the cab section. I'd hate to not have that cab be seen. I'm impressed dude.
Yea, I don't think the big chunk is MHPJ either, it's pretty solid and the orbs are different. The dendrite thing was a first for me too.
