Hi all. I'm going to visit my brother tomorrow and I owe him a birthday present and since he is a fishing nut, I figured it was time to make him one of my fishbowls. I'll try and take some outdoor pics before I leave tomorrow, but these didn't turn out too bad. I took this pic of the whole fishbowl this morning. I had one more fish made, but I think it would have gotten too crowded. Thanks for looking.

Question:
Have you had the fish depart from the fishing line at all?
I'm thinking about a mobile for one of my friend's first baby. But I'm a little leary of hanging rocks over a baby's head. This is not one for the baby to actually grab and play with, just one with bright colors and shapes for the baby to fix on while in a crib.

That is so cool, I want to make a fish bowl too. What kind of a fish bowl you have there? It has an odd shape, could you use any kind of covered jar or did you make a cover for it?

Thanks everyone. Akansan, if you drill a hole through the fish, you should be ok. I just wrap the line around the fish and put a dab of glue to hold it in place. Che, my wife picked up this glass bowl but I'm not sure where. It had a glass lid but I needed somewhere to drop the lines from, so I went to Micheals and just picked up a styrofoam circle and shaved it down to fit the bowl. You could use a regular fishbowl and use the same type of top. I'm suprised you haven't made any fish yet John. They're easy to do and you don't really have to polish them cuz they're in water, and rocks always look polished in water. I'll take another pic and move the camera back to get the whole thing in view.

Update on the fishbowl. I delivered it to my brother yesterday and when he first looked at it, he had a puzzled look on his face. He thought the fish were and the plants were real, and didn't understand how it could be a maintence-free fishbowl. After I told him the fish were rocks and the plants were plastic, then he got a look of astonishment. Needless to say, he and his wife were both amazed and loved the idea. My sister-in-law said I should apply for a patent.

Ed, I really love this! I have a perfect bowl for doing this, and I'm tempted to ask you how much it would cost to buy a couple of 'fish' from you!

Hey this looks great! When the water gets ugly just replace it with light mineral oil, it'll last forever and never grow algae

Great idea. Anyone would love a "homemade" gift of love like that. Beautiful fish!
