here is my latest batch....almost pure, had to add some wonderstone filler in the end. i ran a lot of this in 60/90 and picked out the good bits until i had enough to move up. it had a tendency to undercut and there are bands of hematite in most, so a lot didn't make the grade. it spent from July 3 til now in CPP polish, mainly because i didn't have anything to move up. i'm pleased with the shine, but wouldn't try and tumble this again. i burnished this load for about 3 hours in borax. thanks for looking! KD

Looks like the pieces you did pick are really nice. Thats a sad thing about the jasper/hematite I find around here too, seems like the hematite always pits or something. Yours looks great though, I can see a few pieces that would look cool on a beaded necklace.

Still came out nice though. Is the true colour dark red like in the first two pics, or light like in the last pic? What was the source for the jasper?

the true color iis more dark, that last pic was in full sun. i got the material from Kingsley North, Don, as i said, wouldn't recommend it for tumbling. actually, i've tried to cab similar material and not only is it messy it has interior flaws even in perfectly good looking slabs. maybe just my bad luck? it shines beautifully if you are lucky to get a good piece on the grinder tho.

Those look great darlin! I'm gonna try a batch of red jasper as soon as I get a rotary tumbler. For now I'm just gonna cut some of it into pendants. (of course) ;D

Greetings All,
Nice run KD. I just started a couple of batches of mixed jaspers yesterday and I have a barrel in AlOx polish I'll take down next weekend. I hope mine turn out as good as yours!

Yea that Hematite adds so much to the stone- but you pay the price with pits and such!!!! Nice looking stuff!

kd you did a great job in spite of the trouble they were giving you. sands had 2 types that he put in the vibe that undercut so bad it was sad to see. they looked so good going in - starburst jasper and budstone. both he's had good luck with cabbing but it made a believer out of me not to stick any in the tumbler.
