I don't believe thatit would be worth the effort. the pellets are cheap enough to get more. get enough for the grits that you want to use them in and don't worry.

cher i think someone said they looked at the pellets through a jewelers loupe and that grit was imbedded in them. i use different ones for each stage and even after running them through 3 cleaning cycles they retain the grit color except the polish pellets which look good. i'd get more pellets.

I have only one thing to say about pellets - I HATE THOSE LITTLE BUGGERS! They stick to everything and it makes me crazy! But, they are a necessity, so guess I am learning to just live with them! But I do love watching them get smaller and smaller with each use, knowing that soon they will disappear. Revenge is sweet! ;D even though I do just have to replace them with new ones. I have looked at two WalMart superstores and neither one has had them. Thought maybe they were out of stock, but when asked, they said they didn't carry them. So, guess some WallyWorlds have them and some don't. llana

Hahahaha Llana that was my thought exactly, I hate them. I only have a few that came with my used Lortone and don't have any in the polish stage I have going now. I hope I can find some so I can continue my journey to Polishedland. I'll let you know if I find them at Kmart or Target. i think blueangele may have said they were going to quit carrying them at walmart but they are still on the market so if you have access to another store with craft supplies - they look just like this www.threadart.com/D/tspp2.aspkim

Do the poly-pellets float?

I wonder if a fabric store would have them. Crude, I suppose I should just call the Rock Shed and order some, by the time I find some, they could be here. [glow=red,2,300] ~ Cher ~[/glow] pages.prodigy.net/bestsmileys1/signs/RockOn.gif [/img]

After I have used plastic pellets in my grit I skim them out of a bucket of water and put them in a bowl with a paper towel, let them dry out and then I put them in a ziplock bag and mark the grit they were used in. Tami

That's a good idea Tami, I was wondering how to keep them separated. I found a bag of polly pellets at a local store today. Definitely not enough for all the different grits but enough to get me started. They are very very tiny compared to the other stuff I have that came with the used Lortone I got on ebay. Those have been used and I don't know which grit they were used in so didn't dare use them for my polish stages. Actually I won't need that much for the polish stages as all I have is a 1.5 pound Lortone for that part. Another 33B is on my wish list. i do what Tami does, lots of paper towels and paper plates and little zip loc baggies. i usually order pellets when i order grit. i've taken old polish pellets and used them a step down in pre polish, but i don't think i'd risk going up a step....
shame about the lion cub.

Hi all, its been awhile since I have posted, I have had major computer issues and am just now up and running half-way decently, anyway, wal-mart did stop carrying the poly-pellets, but do to high demands stores can carry them through what is called 'return sheets', you can ask your store to order them that way, if they won't do it, you can do several things, ask them to call my store and I will send them to their store so you can buy them, or just let me know and I will buy them and mail them to you and you can re-imburse me, if you want more information on how to get your local store to do this let me know, I know I stocked up on them as they sell quite well in my area. you can email me at blueangele@plains.net

is ceramic media superior to pellets?

I don't think you'd want to use ceramic in place of the plastic pellets. The idea of the plastic is to cushion the rocks from banging against each other. Ceramic is used in tumbling but I don't think as a filler. Of course I may be wrong, in which case the "gurus" will pipe up soon.
