I've been to the Round Mountain collecting area a few times, and in my many trips have picked up lots of cool stuff but these are the only actual "Fire Agates" I've found...have probably brought home a 5 gallon bucket full of rock. It's really hard to photo "fire"...some of you have seen these before. Enjoy. 8-)S ![](http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/NMrocks/Rough/Fire1.jpg) ![](http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/NMrocks/Rough/Fire2.jpg) ![](http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/NMrocks/Rough/Fire3.jpg) ![](http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/NMrocks/Rough/FireGroup.jpg) More typical finds, still nice, some may contain fire, but not obvious...worth bringing home, eh? ![](http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/NMrocks/Rough/Chalcedony.jpg) Also interesting - chalcedony geodes, most containing druzy and/or quartz crystals. All in all one of my favorite collecting sites. ![](http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/NMrocks/Rough/Geodes.jpg)

Susan, I can see the "fire" just fine! Those are some fabulous finds. Alot of them show what it looks to be, Pin Fire. Thanks for sharing. Steve

The first four photos are outstanding. It would be hard to cab them as they great they way they are. It must be fun to collect those, one of these days I will make it to the opal hill mine.

Those are way cool! Now explain to me the difference ( in language simple minded me can comprehend) between fire agates and carnelian. Are they of the same family?
