Looks like you got used to that thing really quick Susan. Nice slabs. Clean it off? Why bother, it's just gonna get dirty again tomorrow!

I have a 2 gallon pump like for lawn fertilizer that I use to spray mine off with, but it's a very small spray compared to a hose. I would think you could if you're careful and don't spray it right in on the motor.

Things I learned about cutting rocks today...
1. Don't be afraid of the blade. 2. Put the saw in the middle of the yard. Anything near it will get covered in yuck. 3. Rocks can fly. If they fly towards the house they will break windows. 4. Stand BEHIND the saw and pull the rocks towards you. You will still get wet but not as bad. 5. I need to go back to Round Mountain again. That Az chalcedony looks great cut up! 6. Spacegold may be right...why bust up rock with a hammer if you can cut it with a saw. This tile saw wasn't that expensive and it does a nice job of cutting slabettes. 7. You can preform with this tile saw. 8. NEW MEXICO ROCKS ARE HARD! 9. Some rocks look solid but will discorporate. 10. Don't worry about cleaning it. Rock mud turns to rock dust and can be wiped away later. 11. Cutting rocks IS FUN! Beyond FUN! Addictive even. 12. If a Workforce saw is this much fun, what will happen when I get a grinder? I'll probably just TUNE IN, TURN ON and DROP OUT.
Huh, Ed? ;DS

Oh and I never hose mine off- Afraid to get water in the motor- I do pull the table off and take the blade cover off- clean it all up- then run the saw for a few mins. to dry it all up- Every other time I take the blade off and clean the arbor shaft and the blade washers and the rubber washer that seals the arbor shaft- Mine has been running FLAWLESSLY for over 3 years now!!!

I run water on top and use a scotch-pad to wipe whipe it off while running the water. Just done squire right into the motor, and if you do let it dry very well before you tern it back on.

Sweet! Now you can make pendants ;D The workforce is my favorite toy, very addictive. One thing that I did learn just last weekend (from "jonje") is to set it on a table while using it, they are so much easier on your back if you're standing up.

Way to go Susan! It makes you feel like a kid in a candy store doesn't it? Now you get to see that most of those rocks are even cooler looking on the inside than out. Looks like your off to a great start!!

Oh Susan, been down that road. It starts with the WF, then the grinder, then you need your own slab saw because the WF is much better as a trim saw. See Kim for what comes next.

Nice slabettes Susan. Yes it is addictive, I cut about 10 shapes, 20 slabettes or so, and got some more rock ready to slab today, also cut some for tumbling. Terry

That's just about right Susan. Grinding rocks is just as addictive as cutting them. Hey, don't forget to go back to work Monday!

Ha ha ha!
Randy - I already put it on a table!
Joe - I figured out to use the side of the blade "like a grinder" within the first 10 minutes.
I was cutting rocks for about 3 hours yesterday. Next time I get at it I'll be working on some crosses and other shapes.
