Okay, I'm not usually one to like having a druzy pocket on my cabs, but this one is the exception. I've had this sitting near my grinder for at least 6 months trying to decide what to do with it. I was going to cut it in half(vertically) and grind off the druzy, and make 2 matching cabs, or just grind off the druzy and make a football shaped cab. Well, tonight I looked at it another way and came up with this. What do you think, did I make the right decision? Oh, and I also finished up this Royal Velvet Rainbow Obsidian cab as well. Thanks for looking.

Amazing cabs! Would you/could you post a pic of the 'before' for the druzzy?
However, I have to say... the second, the Royal Velvet Rainbow Obsidian, is simply stupendous. I keep scrolling back. Green flames, Mystic Eire.... it inspires names. Yep, just scrolled up again. That is an amazing cab! You have obviously caught the 'soul' of the rock. 'Naptha dreams'. OK, I'm done. Beauitiful, beautiful cab. 'Envylicious'.

A bow to the master for the first one, a bow to the nature for creating such a beautiful rock (the royal velvet rainbow obsidian).

The first cab is so beautiful. The space created by the crystal druzy makes the entire piece that much more dramatic--like a void in some intergallactic or intercellular war. But the Royal Velvet Obsidian--I have goose bumps every time I scroll back to look at it. As a Pisces, I am into all things aquatic and your cab just calls out to me. If I had the privilege of naming that gorgeous cab I would call it "Mystic Sea". Thank you so much for sharing your stunning pieces with us.

P.S. Where can I get some of that obsidian so my husband can create a cab for me? :-)

oh, yeah, you made the right choice with the druzy. that turned out to be an amazing over-the-top cab. the velvet obsidian almost look a little like seraphonte....that's beautiful too, but the druzy one really have personality!

Thanks everyone. I really like the sagenite sprays in the druzy cab. I don't think I could have saved them had I cut the piece in half. I was disappointed in the obsidian when I first got it because it didn't look like the picture shown in the auction. But the stuff has unique look that grows on you. Here's a link to the ebay seller I got it from. search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZorchids9I would buy a specific chunk they have up for auction, rather than a "by the pound" auction. If you buy a specific piece, you can hold them to the colors they show in the photo, whereas if you buy it by the pound, it's up to their discretion as to what pieces you get. And that's why I had no grounds to hold them to supplying me with a nicely colored selection. When you see the auction photo, you'll know what I mean. Oh, and thank you Susan, I'll get those in the mail on Monday.

Way to go Ed, I do like the Sagenite better than the druzy, so you did the right job in cutting it in my opinion. If you zoned it down like you siad, the black sagenite would be as appealing becasue of lost contrast. And though the Druzy is not well seen(being really on an inside vug), a creative jewler can ultilize the open space with a accent stone becasue there is enough room. Well done.
