Hello, everyone.
I'm back from the rock hounding trip. I left on Saturday morning and arrived in the first location. This was our headquarters for three nights:
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P6300246.jpg)
We started with a very short rock hounding session, and after that we had a barbecue:

![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P6300254.jpg)
The next morning we woke up early and at 7 o clock we hit the road ... or, better said, the river. It's a tiny river, the same where I found the big log about two weeks ago.

![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7010280.jpg)
After about 4 km which really seemed to be a lot more, we reached to a little cascade:
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7010290.jpg)
There, in the wood, there is what some locals name "the agate garden". It's a place with all sorts of rocks which include agates. You have to remove the leafs and dig a little for them.
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7010301.jpg)
The only problem is to choose the ones that a person could carry 4km back, because some are really big:
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7010303.jpg)
My sack was full of rocks and the hammer and the chisel had no more room there, so I had to put them as tails. The rock I have in the hand is the most beautiful agate I found there.
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7010310.jpg)
That's my evening + first day haul. One can see an interesting coral in the top-left, and the big agate in the top-right:
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7010312.jpg)
After such a haul, we felt like this rooster from the neighborhood:
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7010319.jpg)
The next day we went on another valley
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7020350.jpg)
Sometimes, the river bed was completely dry. Good for rock hunting, bad for nature:
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7020360.jpg)
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7020371.jpg)
We reached to that place, which some name it "big hopes place" because someone found there a beautiful agate.
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7020367.jpg)
But probably that was long ago, we couldn't find here absolutely nothing. The only rocks we've found were on the riverbed that leads to that place, which for us was hopeless.
We managed to find some nice rocks and completed our hauls. mine, after two rock hunting days, looked that way:
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7020390.jpg)
The day was nearly off
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7010337.jpg)
when we prepared for another BBQ. We made an experiment, trying to put some eggs on the barbecue, bu I don't recommend you to try. They both exploded and the yolk went out.
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7010334.jpg)
The next day we went to another place, where our team was completed by my cousin, who joined us.
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7030416.jpg)
We did some pet wood search in that beautiful area
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7030417.jpg)
and in a river nearby
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7030424.jpg)
We found some stuff, but not very much. We were tired after such full days so we quit rock hounding, excepting my cousin which was fresh. He continued searching and his determination was rewarded: he found a rich area, where he collected till he was no more able to carry his sack. He phoned us asking help and when we arrived there I also found some nice wood. I had no sack to load it and I had to improvise a sack using my undershirt.
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7030428.jpg)
The next day we left for home very early. We made a small detour and returned on a trans-alpine road. Here are some pics from there. First, the mountains we had to cross (about 2500 m high):
![](http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/adrian65prd/Rockhounding%20Iul%202007/P7040443.jpg)
And some pics from "upstairs":

Thanks for looking,
