It is terribly late but I had to post these pics. I was rockhunting up the hill by the horse pens and look what I found! A piece of it was sticking up on the surface. I started digging only to find out it was a vein. A BIG vein. I was only able to get one large piece of it out of the ground. Then I hammered a chunk off to keep. I left the HUGE chunk with Trey. He is going to cut it and take a bulldozer up to get some more of it. It is so beautiful!! I will be posting some more of my trip to the ranch tomorrow. I had a wonderful, serene time!! Just me and nature!! Oh, and some pissed off cows! Trey and Jan took thier calves and left me to hear them hollaring! LOL I brought a crapload of rock back! Go figure! A lot of biscuts. These are clickable cause you have got to see them close up!! I was so excited about the find, I forgot to take pics before I dug the huge chunk up. This is what is left in the ground. Its hard to see but the vein goes off to the side. This is the piece I left with Trey. And this is MY piece! I am so proud of it!

Wow! What a treat for your tumbler! That's an exciting looking piece you have there. Will you be slabbing it, or crush and tumble? Kudos and Congrats.
Harry.

Super nice. Years ago I'd heard about a vein somewhere in that area. Looks like you found it. Way to go.

Good lord! That looks like a hunk of an enormous plume agate fit for Paul Bunyan himself. All right, I say face polish the big piece, wire wrap it with barbed wire, and find a giant Paul Bunyan mannikin on which to display the pendant!.....mel

After 2 full days there, completely alone.......................I know what I want to do now. I am moving to Alpine! The Woodwards don't have very much help at all. I want to be more available to them. I spoke with them about it and Jan feels positive about it. If I can get a job at Sul Ross University I will be able to go to school free! I am looking for work in that area. Wish me luck. I will be posting a ton more pics tonight! Have to go play with the rock I brought home!! Here are a few teasers!! LOL The Ranch in all its GLORY! Okay, that does it! Screw the house payments, I'm on the first plane out of here and heading to the ranch! Damn Sheri, I think you brought the wrong piece home. You're going to have all the blitzers drooling on their keyboards. Hey Gil, you heading down there? Too late, I see the green burrito heading down the highway! ;D ;D ;D Can't wait to see the slabs. Cut it nice and thin Sheri, let those plumes show.

Dang! * sniff sniff* No fair! Ya got all that neat rock hunting and it's all green too. I can't even go out hunting because it's so dry I don't dare take my truck back on the dirt road or swing a pick against a boulder for fear of starting a fire.....Mel

Great find...s' Sheri! I'll bet you couldn't believe how big that rock was, and then it turned out to be a vein. That is really awesome and it looks like great stuff. Glad you had a good time...it's nice to get away and be by yourself at times. I think it's healing to the soul. Steve

Very cool Sheri, any word on the planned bathrooms at the campground?
Man that vein is really cool, and thanks for posting the carmel marshmellow rock. I meant to take a pic of it before we left but like a lot of others I didn't, I would love to know what is inside.

Dang! It's so green there! Yep... you're killing me with these pics Sheri. Yeah... I'm jealous but I gotta say that I'm glad you were able to baby sit... I know that it was refreshing for the soul. I can't hardly wait 'till the next blitz.
Jeremy, you guys better make it next year... or else.... uh... I'll be disappointed... hehe. Dan
