Howdy folks, Well, after I finished with the birds yesterday, I had to do yard chores so I figured I'd cut a few slabs while I worked. Tried a big Dryhead but my coolant is too heavy and dirty so it stopped the saw. So I switched over to a small tiger eye hunk and a big hunk of travertine as soft things don't slow this blade at all. Here are a couple of pics. Thanks for lookin....Mel Tiger eye. Oddly enough this piece had a bit of a green cast to it. Can't decide if I like it or not. Think I prefer the ones that are either gold or blue. Silver Lace Onyx from near the ghost town/now tourist trap of Calico just east of Barstow, CA. Odd but this stuff was mostly mined back when I was a kid but it still shows up a lot at estate sales and even on E-Bay. If you get a good piece, this travertine makes really nice scenic cabs but sometimes the black dendrites are pitted and requite some Hot Stuff. Closer look:

The second one with those delicate dendrites is really special.

All I can say, Mel, is I am partial to beautiful green slabs so if those first four slabs are off-putting for you...just send them over here to Florida and I'll see to it that they don't bother you again. Lady B

Green Tiger eye. That's a first for me, but then a lot of things are. That is unusual onyx also. I learn so much from this board. Thanks Mel!

Thanks for the pics Mel - both of those are slightly different from other things I've seen posted on here. I'm with you - not sure about the greenish tint on the tiger eye - think I prefer the others too - but certainly can't say I'd throw it out! Like to see what that looks like when you're done with it. Also, when you get to that dryhead - I'd love to see pics!

Sabre, I love the green tiger eye, never seen that shade before, but that Silver Lace Onyx, that stuff is just awsome! After three months here I am still completely in awe of some of the rocks I that get posted. Thanks for sharing.

Nice cuts. I bought this kind of tiger eye last year at Budapest rock fair. I also wasn't sure about them but after I cabbed a couple I started to like this greanish tiger eye.
