Those turned out really nice - especially when backlit. I've been thinking about trying some slabs in my rotary but wasn't sure how they'd turn out - looks like whatever you did worked!

The bubbles in the second one look like they were sliced from a botyroidal specimen.

I've seen others post pics with an "iris" effect before but I still didn't understand exactly what it was. You all would know better than I do!
Onewoman...they polish just like any other. I took the same steps with these as with any rough. Difference for me was in getting the final polish. Took a looooong time. They didn't seem to respond with my normal stage 4 polish, so I bought a "pro polish" from a local shop. After about 7 days, I burnished them. (newbies...makes a WORLD of difference IMHO) I was just careful about putting only the slices together as I didn't want a round rock to shatter a slice.

Oh so pretty!! You did a great job on that agate Liz. I love holding slabs to the light to see if they hide any surprises. Looks like you found some. Thanks for the pics, Tonja

Ohhh! Those are really nice. You got a great shine on them. I love to look at different rocks backlit. It's always such a nice surprise.

If these are "a few" for you, I wander what "a lot" would mean.
Very nice, you could make a lamp out of them.
How long did you burnish them? Did you use borax for that?

Hi Adrian!
This batch ran with Borax & water for close to 48 hours. We are getting ready to put on our annual Golf Tournament at the Pub & I kinda forgot about them until yesterday! Normally, I run a burnish about 24 hrs.

Great Batch!! You did an awesome job of photographing the pieces. I've been on the receiving end of some rock from Snowdog. He is very generous.

those really do look like iris agates. Those are VERY expensive! I never see many of those, and there are a bunch of agate collectors here in TX who would love those.
