I posted about the saw my bf started building. It's not done yet, but it cuts rocks now! First a few pics of the saw and such, duplicated from another thread, but figured they are appropriate here too! The saw in its initial rough stage Some cuts made with the saw last night. No idea what this stuff is, but colors aren't showing in the pics, oranges, gorgeous transparency. My mystery red/green rock Brazilian - hard to cut, but not as bad as next pic This stuff was HARD to cut, much harder than the Brazillian. No idea what it is, but its gorgeous. Will have to get more pics once we slab more of it. and then, he had to play with the saw some. He made the S out of the super hard stuff. The other pic is a piece of marcasite he cut into. Hope you enjoy the pics, will have to work on taking my time again and getting better quality pics. Sandy

Very cool! Are you cutting wet or dry? I can't figure out where the water is.

Your bf is sure talented. He did a great job on the saw. Looks like it cut slabs good too.
THe "S" he cut is neat. Are you gonna throw it in the tumbler?

Neat saw and great looking slabs!
I do have to point out that it looks like your saw motor is getting wet. That's a disaster waiting to happen. Please put a splash guard of some sort on it.

Definitly shield the motor from the water. The "S" is neat, never seen letters cut from stone before.

The motor is a sealed unit, but a splash guard is going to be added as a precautionary. We just used the hose for this run with the rocks. The S is going into the vibe unit as soon as the batch I have going right now is done.
